The Hermetic Mason | Digital Edition
The Hermetic Mason | Digital Edition
Digital Edition | December 2022
This issue aims to connect Hermeticism and Freemasonry in a way that introduces the subject to those who have not been initiated into what is sometimes referred to as “Hermetic Masonry.” Those who have already investigated the connections between Hermeticism and Freemasonry might agree that there is a definite possibility that the former is the primordial seed of many spiritual and philosophical schools, including our own beloved Craft.
By looking at the origins and evolution of Hermetic teachings to this day, and by sharing a few selections of what other notable Masonic scholars have published, we may go beneath the surface of this topic to sufficiently reflect on the possibility that the philosophical roots of our Fraternity wind their way back to the Egyptian mystery schools and the teachings of Thoth, attributed to be the father of Hermeticism, and also perhaps the archetype of an “ideal” Freemason—a Freemason who has been obedient to the fraternity’s charges, worked to master his craft, and achieved union with the Great Architect of the Universe, and now seeks to share the inner teachings of our Craft with other initiates.
